CAT is the English acronym for computer-aided or assisted translation. A CAT tool is a translation software system for translators. The main emphasis is on the translator’s work; the software only serves as support. It saves the text, recognizes potential similarities with other texts that have already been translated and provides suggestions. This can be of enormous help to us as translators, speeding up our work processes and saving time. The most common CAT tools are SDL Trados Studio and Across.
